I keep my morning skincare simple and light. This is not the time for complicated steps. I tend to linger in bed until I finally get ready in an absolute panic. You know, like a grown-up. I want multi-tasking products that will wake up my complexion, and sit beautifully under makeup. The better the skincare, the less makeup!
- Tata Harper's Regenerating Cleanser uses French Pink Clay, Pomegranate Enzymes, Willow Bark, and Apricot Seed Powder to clarify without stripping. The citrus scent is the perfect pick-me-up for morning. *Tip-When I'm using a very active cleanser I like to massage it on dry skin, then leave it while I brush my teeth! This gives it a couple of minutes to work before I rinse it away.
- African Botanics Pure Marula Oil is high in omegas (fatty acids) and antioxidants. It's nourishing and anti-aging without being greasy. I mix a few drops in with my Kypris serum (below) and massage in from the nipples up, per founder Julia Noik's recommendation! It's easy to neglect the delicate décolletage, so this is a good reminder.
- My serum of choice is Kypris Antioxidant Dew. The creamy texture allows it to double as a gorgeous lightweight moisturizer. It's not only hydrating and soothing, but contains sodium hyaluronate which holds 1800x its own weight in water. I ordered this when I found my first two wrinkles on my lip line. I'm so naive I thought I had scars on my lip until I realized they were in fact signs of aging! This serum has all but taken the lines away completely.
- Lastly, I use the Lotus Moon Hydro-therapy Eye Serum. The thin texture is perfect under makeup, and the de-puffing ingredients and cold roller-ball are exactly what I need first thing in the morning. Especially if I've indulged in an extra salty dinner the night before. (I'm looking at you, pho.)
This regimen is fairly universal. A very dry skin might want to add a cream on top of the oil/serum cocktail. Let me know what your favorites are!
Up next, my bedtime routine...
