We are well into summer, and the season is taking its toll on my skin. The heat, sunshine, and air conditioning are constantly depleting moisture. My boot camp workouts didn’t make it past May, but my regimen of smoothing and firming body products are still going strong.
- Kamenoko Tawashi's Tamura Medium Body Brush is essential. It’s made from waterproof woven palm fibers and comes in three intensities. Invented in Japan in 1907, this is the holy grail of dry brushes. Every day before I shower I dry brush my whole body starting with my feet and making firm upward strokes toward my heart. This exfoliates, boosts circulation, massages, keeps skin smooth and even fights cellulite.
- Nubian Heritage Coconut and Papaya Body Wash is packed with healing coconut oil, exfoliating papaya enzymes, as well as aloe vera, vitamin E, coconut milk, and honeysuckle. It has a rich creamy lather and smells like shangri-la. It has been wonderful for my eczema prone skin, and would be effective at naturally warding off any hot weather body breakouts.
- African Botanics Marula Firming Botanical Body Oil is a an anti-aging and firming blend of cold-pressed Marula oil, Pinotage Grape Seed oils, and Green Rooibos. It has a beautiful dry texture that’s never sticky and instantly rejuvenates my crocodile skin. And of course any toning effects are very, very welcome. Prepare to be completely hooked.
- Alaffia Every Day Coconut Hydrating Body Lotion is not just quality, but it’s quantity. My husband is 6’4", I’m 6’, and together we can go through a bottle of lotion almost every other week. This 32 oz. bottle lasts, and is thick without being greasy with a light coconut scent that isn’t too sweet. It’s made with Fair Trade coconut water, coconut oil, and coffee berry.
Regular dry brushing and formulas rich with omegas and antioxidants will most definitely revitalize dry, dull skin. Get those limbs glowing and enjoy the rest of your summer!
