The Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation is so gorgeous, I felt like it couldn’t be natural. I kept looking at the ingredients just to make sure. Ingredient one: broccoli oil. What??!? Is founder Svetlana some kind of wizard? Women ask me constantly “What foundation are you wearing?” when I have it on while inspecting my complexion closely. “Your skin is so RADIANT.”
The Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation feels distinctly like the Georgio Armani Maestro I had liked so much, but couldn’t get behind. Not only was the ingredient list full of things that definitely congest my pores, the formula turned my skin into an oil slick by mid-day, then separated. This foundation wore even prettier, and stayed on all day long. OBSESSED. I’ve also heard it compared to the Perricone serum foundation, but I couldn’t say as I haven’t tried it.
Gressa foundation comes in a glass bottle with a rubber dropper tip in 15 ml (.5 oz) in 8 shades. I'm personally mixing shades 1 and 3 together as I was exactly in between. As you can see from the swatches, shade 2 is for a rosier skin tone, and I am a light golden. Don't hesitate to email Gressa to inquire about a match. They are incredibly helpful.
The finish: Radiant semi-matte in a sheer to medium coverage, as it is definitely buildable. This is my favorite foundation to start with even for special occasions. I can always go in for more coverage with a cream foundation or concealer if I need it. Because this is also such an effective serum, my skin is calmed and plumped as I apply it. I end up using very little because of this.
Application: You need to give this a good shake before each use to blend the formula. It’s a very fluid dry oil texture that sets to a moist powder finish. A little goes a long way, so start with less than you think, between 2-4 drops. I used my fingers or Real Techniques Buffing Brush until Svetlana sent me her soon to be launched Air Brush. I LOVE this brush! It blends this formula in flawlessly, and feels wonderful. Total game changer. The main thing to remember is to work in small areas. I like to start in the T-zone and work my way out. Can be built up in layers for more coverage, or used sparingly for a minimal look.
Who it’s for: All skin types. If you are oily, skip your moisturizer. This serum has all of the omegas and antioxidants you need for the day. Combo skin, use this over a light moisturizer. Dry and mature skin should do their full skincare regimen, but you may skip your daily face oil as this one will do the trick. If you’re a minimalist, congrats, this product is everything in one!
Why I love it:
- A truly modern fluid texture free of silicones and mineral oils and packed with skincare.
- Perfect for every day, but long-wearing and camera friendly for events.
- Provides a radiant finish with a weightless feel.
I deliberately chose the side of my face that had been broken out recently. You can see how my tone is evened out and pores are minimized, but how the most stubborn spots would need a touch of concealer.
Gressa promises non-toxic glamour, and they deliver! I'll post soon on their buttery pigmented Lip Boost and decadent Skin Polish!
